I heard the voice of Jesus say

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
Ik hoorde de stem van Jezus, die zei:
“Come unto Me and rest;
‘kom naar mij toe, rust uit
Lay down, thou weary one, lay down
Leg, vermoeide, leg
Thy head upon My breast.”
je hoofd neer op mijn borst.’
I came to Jesus as I was,
Ik kwam bij Jezus zoals ik was,
Weary and worn and sad;
Vermoeid, uitgeput, bedroefd
I found in Him a resting place,
Ik vond bij Hem plaats om uit te rusten,
And He has made me glad.
en Hij heeft mij nieuwe vreugde gegeven.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
Ik hoorde de stem van Jezus, die zei:
“Behold, I freely give
‘voorwaar, Ik geef je voor niets,
The living water; thirsty one,
het Levende water, dorstige,
Stoop down, and drink, and live.”
Kom hier, en drink, en leef.’
I came to Jesus, and I drank
Ik kwam bij Jezus en ik dronk
Of that life-giving stream;
van die waterstroom die leven geeft,
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
Mijn dorst was gelest, mijn ziel bevrijd.
And now I live in Him.
En nu leef ik in Hem.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
Ik hoorde de stem van Jezus, die zei:
“I am this dark world’s Light;
‘Ik ben het Licht in deze donkere wereld.
Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise,
Kijk naar Mij, dan zal de morgen komen
And all thy day be bright.”
en uw dag zal worden verlicht.’
I looked to Jesus, and I found
Ik keek naar Jezus en ik vond
In Him my Star, my Sun;
in Hem, mijn Ster, mijn Zon.
And in that light of life I’ll walk,
En in dat Licht van het Leven wandel ik,
Till travelling days are done.
tot de dagen van mijn reis voorbij zijn.
